Confirmed: Raising Cane’s Coming to Frederick

It’s official: Frederick is getting its first Raising Cane’s.

Site plans confirm that the building currently home to Applebee’s at 5613 Spectrum Dr., near the Francis Scott Key Mall, will be demolished to make way for a brand-new 3,300-square-foot Raising Cane’s with a drive-thru.

What remains unclear is when Applebee’s will close, whether the restaurant plans to relocate in Frederick, and when construction on the new Cane’s will begin.

Raising Cane’s began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, when founder Todd Graves opened the first restaurant. The chain has since grown to more than 800 locations across the U.S. as of August 2025. It’s best known for its simple menu built around chicken finger meals, sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, sweet tea, and its signature Cane’s Sauce.

We’ll provide updates as more details emerge.
