New Event Venue with Speakeasy-Style Restaurant & Rooftop Bar Coming to Downtown Frederick

A dynamic new venue is set to elevate Downtown Frederick’s entertainment and dining scene. The Banyan project, an exciting development at 216 East Patrick Street, is well underway. Spearheaded by husband-and-wife duo Dan and Staci Caiola—both trained chefs—the project promises to bring a fresh vibrancy to the city. Named after the beloved shade trees found in the Caribbean and Key West, The Banyan will soon emerge as a 17,000+ square-foot, three-story space dedicated to live music, private events, and exceptional dining.

According to the City of Frederick’s Office of Economic Development, the ground floor will house a restaurant with a speakeasy-inspired ambiance, offering private dining options and an extensive selection of curated libations.

The second floor will serve as a spacious event venue with a contemporary industrial flair. With a seating capacity of approximately 275, this versatile setting will be ideal for weddings, corporate functions, and private parties. Additionally, the venue will host regional touring acts, providing a concert-ready atmosphere featuring state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and dedicated green room facilities for performers. To enhance accessibility and functionality, the building’s expansion will include an elevator, a cutting-edge commercial kitchen, and more.

The Banyan will also bring the largest rooftop bar in Downtown Frederick. Set against the city’s stunning historic skyline, this open-air lounge will feature eclectic furnishings, relaxed community seating, and live music performances. Patrons can also indulge in bites from its in-house food truck, appropriately named “The Hangry Rooster.”

The Banyan’s ground-floor restaurant and event venue are expected to tentatively open in the first quarter of 2026, with the rooftop bar slated to launch the following spring. As this ambitious project unfolds, The Banyan is poised to become a landmark destination for food, music, and celebration in the heart of Downtown Frederick.
