Frederick Health Systems Taken Offline Due To Ransomware Attack

Frederick Health Hospital experienced a ransomware attack on Monday, leading to its systems being taken offline, which resulted in the emergency department not being able to accept new patients this morning.

The organization released a statement on Monday afternoon regarding the ransomware event. The notice can be read below:

“Frederick Health recently identified a ransomware event. We took immediate steps to help contain the incident, and we proactively took our systems offline.

We are working closely with our third-party cybersecurity experts to bring our systems back online as quickly and safely as possible and in a way that prioritizes patient care.

Our facilities remain open, and we continue to provide care for our patients using established back-up processes and other downtime procedures. Nevertheless, there are certain delays in our services at this time.

Most appointments are continuing as scheduled.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work to return to normal operations.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.”
