World Ballet Company: The Nutcracker
Performed live by a multinational cast of 50 professional ballet dancers gathered to bring the most beloved holiday tradition to life.
A family-friendly experience accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, over 150 radiant hand-crafted costumes, lavish hand-painted sets, and the iconic Lev Ivanov choreography. This fairytale will take you on a Christmas night adventure with Clara and the Nutcracker to the Land of Sweets. See the iconic Waltz of Flowers, and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, meet Mother Ginger and the Drosselmeyer.

Lighted Sailboats On Carroll Creek:
Annually, Sailing Through The Winter Solstice begins in November, when a number of boats, transformed through the creative minds of many Frederick friends, set sail on the Creek. Our fleet has grown from one boat the first year to 26 sailing boats and 1 land-locked boat in the 2024-25 season. The boats are anchored in Carroll Creek, between Market Street and Carroll Street.
The fleet includes gaff-rigged ketches, yawls, three-masted schooners, and pirate ships, moored with their sail outlines, rigging and decks lit up from dusk till dawn. If you can’t imagine it make sure to come by and take a look at the amazing flotilla!
It’s not just fun, it’s for a purpose. In addition to voting for your favorite boat ($5 per vote), many organizations are raising awareness and money for amazing causes. Visit this year’s fundraising site to learn more about the 27 boats in this years fleet. All proceeds raised during STTWS go to each boat’s designated charity and Color On The Creek. The event runs from mid-November through the 2nd Saturday in March.

Tuba Christmas at the Weinberg
The popular tuba comrades return delighting audiences of all ages in an annual Weinberg Center holiday tradition.
Join us for a jubilant celebration of brass music with a symphony of tubas, euphoniums, and baritones in a harmonious blend of holiday cheer. Whether you’re a seasoned music enthusiast or just looking for a delightful holiday outing, Tuba Christmas promises an unforgettable musical for all ages with a variety of brassy Christmas hits, in this annual Weinberg Center tradition. In lieu of admission, a canned food drive will be held to benefit the Community Action Agency of Frederick City.

Maryland Christmas Show:
Nothing brings back the yuletide spirit quite like the Maryland Christmas Show. For the 41st season visitors from near and far will discover the joys of shopping at Maryland’s premier Christmas event. The Maryland Christmas Show, located in historic Frederick City, brings together many fine artisans and merchants to make your holiday shopping an enjoyable event.
The show offers seven buildings. You’ll enjoy the works of top artists and craftsmen offering fine art, pottery, furniture, jewelry, clothing, wreaths and garlands, toys and Christmas ornaments – just about anything related to your Christmas shopping enjoyment. Not all of the same exhibitors participate in both weekends.
The Maryland Christmas Show makes shopping fun for everyone from gram to grandchild. So don’t forget, we’re a two weekend event. Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing as you’ll be moving between seven heated buildings.
