Catoctin Colorfest Festival:
Established in 1963, Colorfest has grown to become one of the most extensive outdoor craft exhibitions on the East Coast. Beyond being just an event, Colorfest offers a complete experience in Thurmont, Maryland.

The town is transformed into a vibrant showcase of remarkable crafts, art, jewelry, clothing, and an array of delightful culinary delights. On Saturday Oct 12- Sunday Oct 13 from 9am-5pm, you can witness craft demonstrations, including the art of broom making, wood turnings, and intricate wood carvings of flowers.

While admission to Colorfest is free, Parking is $15.00 at all parking locations.

72 Film Fest at The Weinberg:
Frederick’s annual film competition returns for year 19! Over 740 films have been made throughout the first 18 years for the Fest, showcasing talent from across the region. Dozens of teams consisting of writers, directors, actors, set designers, editors, composers and other screen artists will have only a weekend to make a short film. All of the shorts premiere Friday night over two blocks, with the finalists and award winners showcasing again on Saturday night. The 72FF Award Ceremony directly follows the Saturday night screenings

From burglaries and brawls to bootlegging and bedaubing (vandalism), Frederick’s history is full of all things macabre. Join us as we dive into the sordid tales of our city’s past on this special tour just in time for spooky season!
*This tour discusses violence and crime and is recommended for visitors age 12+. We leave from 24 E Church St and end at S Market St and Carroll Creek Wy*
Sense & Sensibility at The MET:
This hilarious, playful, highly physical, and loving adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel follows the Dashwood sisters after the death of their beloved father leaves them penniless and socially vulnerable. Will the sisters learn to balance their vicious world of gossip and need for security along with the desires of their hearts?

Sky Stage Concert Series:
Enjoy a diverse lineup of live music under the stars at the open-air Sky Stage in historic downtown Frederick. Featuring original tunes from local and national artists, concerts take place on most Saturday evenings from May to October. All ages are welcome, and beer and wine are available for purchase with ID. Grab your tickets on Eventbrite or at the door (limited availability).

Weekly Carillon Recitals in Baker Park
Weekly Carillon Recitals in Baker Park featuring City Carillonneur John Widmann playing the carillon of 49 bells from a mechanical keyboard with fists and feet. Bells range from 3,400 to 22 pounds of bronze and can be heard for blocks, but best in the park near the Gazebo. More info
Civil War Hospital Walking Tours:
Every Saturday and Sunday from April – September, walking tours of Frederick’s hospital sites will be available at 10:30 am on Saturdays and 2:00 pm on Sundays.
With accounts taken from the diaries and letters of the surgeons, soldiers, and civilians who were there, this guided walking tour will explore the locations of the city’s Civil War hospitals in churches, schools, and public buildings. This program is an excellent way to take in downtown Frederick as many of those same buildings still make up the historic district today.
