🔥🧊Fire in Ice Event in Downtown — Each February, Downtown Frederick is transformed into a winter wonderland! The event kicks off on Friday evening with Fire Performances and a Live Ice Carving Demo, plus the opening of the Polar Lounge and Ice Games Center. Then, all day Saturday, visitors can view 130+ ice sculptures displayed all over downtown, catch Live Ice Carvings during the day, challenge a friend at the first-ever Ice Putt-Putt Course, be dazzled by a roaring fire tower at the Polar Lounge, and explore all that Downtown Frederick has to offer. 🖼 First Saturday At The Delapaine Arts Center— Art Matters Artist Talk (2PM, Free event) Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association artists and solo exhibition artist Frank Cole describe their experience in art making and the work in their exhibitions. Exhibition Openings: Meet the Artists (3PM–5PM, Free event)- View exhibitions and meet the artists! Creative Outlet (3PM–5PM)- Kids and adults are invited to drop-in and get creative together on art activities at family tables! Each session features a themed activity. 📚 Black History Exhibit Opening with Oakdale High— You’re invited to an opening reception for Oakdale High School’s Black History Exhibit Project. Experience the exhibit and hear directly about their process and findings from the eleven students and their teacher, Kate Ehrlich. The creators believe that Black History is everyone’s history and that all members of the community will benefit from reading these stories, many found through original research by the students. đź”” Weekly Carillon Recital – Each week, Baker Park hosts Carillon recitals on the Joseph Dill Baker Memorial Carillon, featuring 49 bells. The carillon is operated mechanically, with City Carillonneur John Widmann and guest musicians playing it using a keyboard of batons and pedals. Sundays, 12:30pm-1pm
