In February we let you know that Gwenie’s Pastries will be opening a location at 220B Shorebird Street in the Market Square at Frederick shopping center, located just east of the intersection of Route 26 and Route 15.

This will be Gwenie’s second location, as they are currently located at 12113 Nebel St in Rockville. The bakery is well known for their delicious Filipino desserts.

Stella Fernandez operates Gwenie’s Pastries, while her brother, Javier, manages Kuya Ja’s Lechon Belly in Rockville. Gwenie’s provides a range of Filipino sweets created by their mother, Gwendolyn, to various local Filipino restaurants and markets. Make sure to try their ube desserts, made from the vibrant purple yam that’s a staple ingredient in Filipino sweets.

On 10/27 the bakery shared an update in a social media post: “Although we don’t have an exact grand opening date, we’ve been working on the renovations both inside and out of our new space. Thank you for your patience as we do our best to make our second home as presentable and beautiful for our loyal & new customers. We will keep you updated as the renovations progress. Thank you, and we can’t wait to open our doors in Frederick!”
