Last month, Maryland Deaf Community Center volunteers presented plans for the Deaf community center that will be built on the land at 720 North East Street near Rockwell Brewery.

Construction for the new building is set to begin in August of 2023. Once completed it will have roughly 11,000 square-feet of space for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community to gather. It will also be the first Deaf Community Center in Maryland.

The building will feature a multi-purpose gym, an open office, smaller offices, a lounge, kitchen and an outdoor area. Anticipated completion is in 2024.
