Frederick County Fire & Rescue (FCDFRS) responded to a two-story single-family home located at the 1700 block of Brookshire Run in Point of Rocks around 4:28 am with fire showing from all sides upon arrival, according to FCDFRS in an update.

Per FCDFRS: “A neighboring resident informed crews that they believed the single resident was home and had not been seen evacuating the residence. A Rapid Intervention Dispatch was quickly requested as crews began to attack the fire from the exterior. The fire progressed rapidly causing the roof and floor to collapse. It took an estimated 60 firefighters around forty-five minutes to control the fire and make access into the home. Upon entry, one adult male was located, deceased.

There was no damage to any other structures and no other injuries. FCDFRS Marshal’s Office and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office will remain on location for an extended period of time as they investigate.”
