Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater’s proposed FY 2024 Capital Improvement Program Budgets released on April 14th, has included roughly $10.7 million in funding to construct a Westside Library branch in the Route 40 area. The project includes construction of a building with 15,000 square-feet of space that will provide library service to the West and North side of Frederick City—an area currently served by two bookmobile stops (Hillcrest and Waverley), according to the Capital Project Sunmary.

Back in January at a town hall meeting, Executive Fitzwater confirmed the county was committed to ensuring the new Westside Library is built at Westside Regional Park, near Butterfly Ridge Elementary and Sophie & Madigan’s Playground.
