Two-Alarm Fire Causes Severe Damage To Former Visitation Academy

According to updates from Frederick County Fire & Rescue, firefighters responded to the Visitation Academy site on the 200 block of East 2nd Street shortly after 8:30pm on Saturday night. Upon arrival, heavy fire was showing from the building’s roof and a 2nd alarm was requested. The fire was put out at approximately 12 AM. Extensive overhaul was needed & fire crews remained on the scene for an extended period of time. Fire marshal is investigating the origin & cause of fire.

No injuries were reported and no one was displaced as this building was currently under renovation.

The Visitation Academy site is currently being developed into a boutique Marriott-affiliated hotel and 3 luxury condo buildings.
