Thanks to some incredibly kind Frederick individuals and local organizations, there are fundraisers/meal trains in place for the family displaced by the Route 15 fire and the family of the truck driver. We are grateful to see the Frederick community coming together to support those in need, especially during times of crisis.

Displaced Hernandez Family Fundraiser

Per the fundraiser:

“Hello – our names are Chris Martin, Brandon Chapman and De’von Wellesley. We are just 3 local natives of Frederick County and we witnessed the horrible fire on Route 15 this past weekend. We always try to help our community whenever we can. Simply just want to help our neighbors in the area in times of need. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck that started the fire passed away. Several houses were affected and the Hernandez family’s home was absolutely torched and they are a family of 8 including a 17 year old and an 11 year old. We had spoken to the family earlier today and they didn’t know how to go about setting up a GoFundMe so here it is. Frederick is a truly special place when it comes to people helping one another and coming together. Let’s do everything we can to help them get back on their feet!”

Fundraiser/Meal Train For Driver- Heiston Family

“I’m sure a lot of you have read about the tragic accident that happened in Frederick this weekend regarding the oil tank crash that killed the driver of the truck.

The driver, Ronald Heiston, was a beloved grandparent of Fantasy Elite’s very own McKenzie Heiston. Ronald attended our national competition just last weekend in Hershey, PA to support McKenzie on all three of her all star teams (Pink Kitties, Pixies, and Conqueress) as his daughter, Kim, (McKenzie’s mother) had just given birth a few days prior to a baby girl.

Ronald was a supportive and loved father, grandfather and husband. The tremendous grief his family is facing after such a tragedy is unfathomable. Especially during a time that is supposed to be happy as the family recently welcome baby girl, Josie.

Please join us in supporting Fantasy Elite family of athlete McKenzie Heiston during this difficult time. We are hoping to take the financial and self care responsibilities off of this family as they navigate through this. Any help you can provide whether it’s a home cooked meal, a restaurant gift card, diapers, or money toward funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.
